On the top of the church of Peter and Paul in Nerežišća, which dates back to 1413, grows a 170 cm tall pine tree.
This pine has no roots and is fed exclusively by moisture from the stone slabs of the apse.
Along with Zlatni Rat beach, it is the most photographed motif of the island of Brač.
Its age is unknown, but it is estimated that it has been there for more than 150 years.
The people of Brač call it “borić”, but it is also known as “Brač Bonsai Pine Tree”.
It was declared a natural monument in 1969, as a rare specimen of trees.
