Did you know that the island of Brač shaped the fortunes of us all?
The island of Brač is full of folk tales, myths, and legends. But there is one legend that rules them all. The legend of St Helena of the True Cross.
According to two historical sources and folk tales that have been living on our island for more than 1500 years, the mother of Roman emperor Constantine I The Great was born in the picturesque village of Škrip. A humble girl lived an ordinary life until she met Constantius Chlorus, a Roman commander and ruler of the Roman province of Dalmatia, who was also in charge of countless construction projects in the Roman Empire, especially in Salona. When visiting the imperial quarries on the island of Brač, he fell in love with a humble village girl.
On this tour, we explore Roman imperial quarries, Roman ruins, and ancient legends that locals believe have shaped the fortune of us all.
